Therapy for Anxious First Time Parents
Your world expanded overnight and your mind is doing its best to make sense of it all.
You’re holding so much love and so many worries in the same moment and you don’t have to carry it alone.
Perinatal anxiety & perinatal depression are treatable & things can feel better.
Parenting books and well-meaning friends can offer tips, but they can’t sit with your anxiety, your history, or the way your nervous system is reacting to this massive life shift. Therapy gives you a space where you’re not being judged, compared, or overwhelmed with advice, just understood. Instead of generic solutions, you get support that’s shaped around your personality, your fears, your values, and your baby’s unique needs. After our first session, many parents tell me they feel a little lighter, a little more grounded, and that they have hope that their anxiety will decrease with the tools they will learn. You might walk away with a sense of hope, clarity, and the reassurance that you don’t have to figure this out alone

Bring all of your observations, questions, and concerns to our sessions and we’ll work that out together. There are so many things that commonly happen in the first days, but there are tools to make it feel more manageable.
-
We’ll work to create a relationship and space where that embarrassment has room to exist in our shared space and hopefully, over time that feels much less intense. You may be feeling an emotion or having a thought for the first time, but it’s very likely I’ve heard it before! It won’t scare me.
-
YES! Any and all of your thoughts are welcome in therapy. I’m honored when I get to share in those with you and we’ll work through them together.
-
There is no judgement in my therapy room. Ever. Many parents experience those kinds of thoughts and fears. We’ll discuss what that means in session and work out a plan to keep both you and your baby safe.
-
As soon as you’d like! Postpartum, post-adoption or any immediate period, however your family grew, is sacred. I respect that time and I also believe it can be important to continue with regular sessions, especially if something unexpected happened.

Anxiety can show up anytime and it’s never too early to start. Therapy during your pregnancy can help you learn tools and process through emotions before you experience postpartum shifts. That will also give us time to get to know each other before I support you in your postpartum period.

Yes! All parents are welcome in my therapy space.
